We hope that you can join our Zoom meetings with video. If you are unable to, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call (206) 832-1277 M-F 9am-5pm and we’ll provide a dial-in number.
In addition to the book we will read and discuss, each month (one week before the meeting), you will receive an article on creative writing that will inspire working with different elements of the craft of creating writing along with a writing prompt.
At each monthly meeting of this book club, we will discuss the assigned book, examine one or two points of craft exemplified in the book, and engage with creative writing prompts and a modified version of workshopping that requires no prior writing experience.
If you sign up and would like to receive the book-of-the-month in print or digital form, please email email@example.com and provide your email (for digital kindle form of book) or physical address where you would like the book mailed before the 15th of each month when there is a meeting (no meeting in June).
Reading illness narratives that hit close to home can be both difficult and healing, depending on a number of factors, so please listen to your inner voice about what you are able to read. It is not necessary to read the entire book to participate in the meeting at the end of each month.
The books for this season are:
May: So Lucky by Nicola Griffith
July: Bone Knowing by Jennifer Allen
August: When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi
