SUMMARY:Open Studio Process [In-person & Online]
DESCRIPTION:CLICK HERE TO REGISTER \nFor dial in:\nWe hope that you can join our Zoom meetings with video. If you are unable to\, please email classes@cancerlifeline.org or call (206) 297-2500 M-F 9am-5pm and we’ll provide a dial-in number. \nIN-PERSON: If you would like to join Open Studio Process in-person at Cancer Lifeline (6522Fremont Ave N\, Seattle\, WA 98103)\, please email or call Pamela Krueger at pkrueger@cancerlifeline.org or (206) 832-1271. There will be a limit of 4 people in-person and each person must show proof of COVID vaccine. Masks will also be required to be worn and are available. \nThe Open Studio Process allows for creative exploration in parallel with others and includes three simple steps: 1) setting an intention\, 2) art-making\, and 3) witnessing what we create. It is a creative experience for everyone – no prior artistic experience of any kind is needed! \nThirty minutes prior to the official start time of each Open Studio Process session\, the facilitator will open the Zoom meeting room to allow people to arrive\, greet one another\, settle into the space\, explore their available art materials in their location\, and prepare for art-making. Arriving early for this portion is optional. \nWe will begin the process at 10:30am. To open up space for creative exploration\, a poem and set of inspiring images will be shared for an automatic writing response. Next\, a short visualized\, guided meditation will be offered and then each person will set an intention of what we long to receive from Creative Source\, however each person defines it. Then\, we will each engage with art materials of our selection and engage in the act of art-making as a creative exploration\, with an emphasis on deciding in the moment what form our creativity takes and experimenting with things we haven’t tried before. This will usually last about 1.5-2 hours\, depending on the number of people attending. Then\, we will each “witness” our own creation\, silently\, in writing\, allowing us to respond to whatever we have created. An optional sharing of what we write will then be invited\, without dialogue or comment. \nIn this way\, each participant can engage fully with the creative process\, while feeling the energy of the collective space that comes from others also creating in sync\, in time. The Open Studio Process offers an atmosphere of supportive non-interference – free of all comment and critique – allowing you to connect with your creativity while working alongside with others. \nFor those who have attended Open Studio in the past at the Dorothy O’Brien Center or other places\, it may feel a bit different to have a structured time. We invite you to join us and try this approach\, which we believe will open up new creative pathways for each participant. \nPamela Krueger will facilitate\, having received training in the Open Studio Process by one of its three original creators\, Pat B. Allen.

Allen.

SUMMARY:Cancer & Creative Expression: Rest & Reflection through Watercolor Part 2 [In-person at Cancer Lifeline]
DESCRIPTION:[In-person at Cancer Lifeline] — PLEASE SEE NOTE BELOW \nEarly summer is a vibrant colorful season and an ideal time to meditate on the healing properties of color. The mood and quality of colors remind us to slow down our breathing and enter the healing world of color. We will work with magenta and green hues and use the wet-on-wet watercolor method. Magenta and green are complementary colors and represent the colors of the heart; open and expansive. Yellow-green is a vibrant color that we see in spring as the first new growth reaches towards the warm sun; a color of renewal. Magenta is a gentle atmospheric color; it can feel like a soft embrace\, delicate and tender. The mood and quality of these colors remind us to slow down our breathing as the painting quietly unfolds\, offering a reflective space. \nFor all skill levels. No previous painting experience necessary. \nPLEASE NOTE: Register on Zoom so that we know you are coming (class size limit is 8) but please note the Zoom link you receive will not “work” as this offering is in-person only. Cancer Lifeline is located at 6522 Fremont Ave N\, Seattle\, WA 98103. Please arrive 5-10 minutes before 10am so that you can get settled into the space before class begins. This offering will take place in the Healing Arts Room. Proof of vaccine is required and masks are required to be worn throughout the building and during class (masks are available at the front door). \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER \n

Allen.
