LuAnn’s Story

LuAnn’s Story
In 2018, LuAnn’s life changed forever. She was diagnosed with a rare form of lung cancer, (Neuroendocrine lung cancer), along with thyroid cancer. It all started with what she thought was walking pneumonia. A lung X-ray revealed something much more serious.

She was the first person in her family, on either side, to be diagnosed with cancer. There was no roadmap, no guidebook for what she should do next. She didn’t know where to turn or who to talk to. That’s when she was referred to Cancer Lifeline.

She began attending the Living with Metastatic Cancer Support Group. At first, they met in person but later transitioned to Zoom. She’s been part of this group for six years now, and it has become a cornerstone of her support system. Over time, she joined other groups as well—the Lung Cancer Support Group for three years and the Women’s Support Group for a little over a year.

For LuAnn, these groups have been more than a place to learn about cancer and treatments. They’ve been a lifeline, connecting her with others who truly understand what she’s going through. The friendships she’s formed are lifelong, and the love and support she’s received have been nothing short of amazing.”

Cancer Lifeline offers so much more than just emotional support. She’s participated in many exercise classes, which have been instrumental in helping her regain strength and stamina after procedures and treatments.

Over the years, she’s recommended Cancer Lifeline to so many people she’s lost count.

“The impact Cancer Lifeline has had my life—and the lives of so many others—is immeasurable. Thank you for being there every step of the way.”
