Introduction to Ayerveda: Practices to Support the Mind, Body & Spirit Sponsored by Valley Medical Center
Ayurveda is one of the world’s oldest holistic healing systems. It was developed more than 3,000 years ago in India. It’s based on the belief that health and wellness depend on balance between the mind, body, and spirit. It focuses on self-care, bringing our conscious awareness to daily routine and lifestyle choices that enhance important aspects of our health, including stress management, nutrition, sleep, and exercise. It is considered complementary to medical treatment and not a substitute. In Ayurveda, there is no “one size fits all” prescription for well-being. Instead, every health-related measure is based on an individual’s mind-body type, or dosha.
