Mindful Self-Compassion Practices Sponsored by Swedish Cancer Center
Mindful Self-Compassion has its roots in the ancient Buddhist practice of Loving kindness, or what is sometimes called “metta” meditation. The goal and outcome of this practice is to foster an attitude of self-compassion and kindness toward our own self. Our practice will involve the silent repetition of phrases in which we wish ourselves health, wellness, safety, and peace. We’ll also have a chance to consider other practices that increase our self-compassion. In difficult times, cultivating deep and lasting self-compassion helps us cope with stress and disappointments and improves our overall well-being for a lifetime.
